Nuclear Waste Scholar Series

  • Hanford Challenge P.O. Box 28989 Seattle, WA 98118 United States (map)

Join us on Friday, December 4th at noon PT for our next virtual webinar series. Dr. Daniel Metlay will present Part Two of Becoming a Responsible Ancestor.

Daniel will look at the efforts in eight other pluralist democracies to dispose of their wastes. He will focus on five critical tasks that a reformed U.S. program will need to accomplish: designing an implementing organization; selecting a repository site; phased repository development; repository licensing; and addressing technical and scientific controversies. Based on lessons that might be learned from other nations, the talk concludes with five recommendations for reconstituting the United States's radioactive waste management program.

Funded in part by a Public Participation Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
